Must Watch For Fans Of Hammer/Lee

Excellent older horror, has some gorgious scenes and the art direction is exceptional (cheesey is another way to describe it, but if your willing to give a piece like this the context it deserves then its very good). Again on the striking look of the film, colours are vivid and dream like to create a haunting and unique aesthetic. The film in cinematography and even tone to some extent reminded me of the Italian horrors like Mask of Satan by Mario Bava. Regards transfer, I never owned it on VHS and wasnt arround to see it in 1967 so the scratchyness of the film didnt bother me or my enjoyment of the film at all, if anything it added to the feel of the film. For me anyway, it just wouldnt look right to have a perfectly crisp 1080p 60's horror movie IMO.
Christopher is exceptional when he gets going and the supporting cast are very good too. My only complaint is the slight tedium prior to the films conclusion, but despite that flaw I still reccomend it highly to fans of Hammer, Lee, Bava and old horror movies.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dull film, terrible transfer
By JAMIOUSE (49 reviews) from PILMOOR, YORK , 07 Oct 2011Not the most exciting 'Living Dead' film ever made, it's difficult to watch it and not think it's almost a comedy at times. The transfer that has been used for the DVD is in TERRIBLE quality, scratchy, grainy, sometimes blurred. I'm sure if the audio is out of synch or it's a bad dubbing job but some of the lips are incredabily out of time.
Dull film, terrible transfer best describes it.- Was this review helpful to you?
