Disturbing but compelling viewing that brings home the true cost of the Vietnam war to both soldiers and civilians alike.

Disturbing fact-based tale of a mentally-challenged group of GI's, led by the arch-moron Sean Penn, who on being denied a spot of R&R at a Vietnamese bar, decide to entertain themselves and boost flagging morale by abducting a village girl for brutalisation. If you can stand that, bearing in mind it is based on fact, and can resist the urge to throw a knife at the TV containing Sean Penn, this turns out a powerful story typical of Brian DePalma. Try not to read the description at tyhe top of the page as it gives the story away. Watch it if you can, and be glad you're not American

When one looks at the word casualty one immediately considers the troops that are fighting. This film goes one step beyond this and reports the innocent bystanders that are also casualties. Not just because they are losing someone who is dear to them but the way that they are treated by the troops that are there to assist.

I do not consider that all troops are the same as is portrayed in this story, but this story was based on a true event. This one event was far too many. I only hope that you watch this film and come away from it as saddened as I was. It is a masterpiece.

Ok, not the newest of films on the block. I first saw this film when it was first released. I enjoyed it then as much as I enjoyed it now. The film is very powerful, the photography is excellent as is the acting, the storyline is very powerful too. Even though I have personally seen this film several times over the years it never fails to to stir the emotions, I can only say to you watch at least once in your life, you will not be the same person after you have seen this movie,

An excellent performance from both Michael J Fox & Sean Penn in this Vietnam war movie. Although set in the conflict there isn't that much war action as the movie centres around the drama. The Platoon kidnap a native girl and use her as a sex slave. Michael J Fox however isnt playing along. Good movie, well worth seeing. Also features a young John Leguiziamo and John C Reilly.
