The Catch...By Jennish (336 reviews) from Rye , 30 May 2012
[Highly rated reviewer]A mixed bag of fun carnage and annoying and tedious dialogue. About fifteen years ago critics would have waxed lyrical over this early Tarantino inspired thriller and its foul mouthed self conscious postmodernist script. Today all the film references, gags about Bruce Willis (there's even a Pulp Fiction inspired white Honda lurking about) and overly mannered swearing fall a little flat.
The cast is where this film both fails to be good and succeeds in not being dire. The shrill and irritating female gang at the heart of the plot are more reminiscent of that annoying US sorority girl who spent a semester in your halls at uni than a bunch of hardened criminals. They are balanced out by Bruce Willis as sleazy drug kingpin Mel and Forest Whitaker as his psychotic double dealing right hand man, Ronny. It is a shame to see actors of the caliber of Brad Dourif going to waste in underdeveloped supporting roles.
A quality soundtrack, a few fun scenes, and some impressive bloodshed never quite compensate for the annoying female leads, limp script and slick yet unimaginative direction.

Avoid at all costs.
Rent something else - this is terrible!By KeyGrip (2 reviews) , 05 Jul 2012Poorly paced, terrible dialogue, with a plot that works hard to say very little, this film is dire. It is made worse by trite performance from most of the cast, with the exception of Forest Whitaker who appears to try something new but ends up laying on more ham than a hog roast - I think he's been watching too many 'I love Lucy' re-runs for his Cuban accent! Masterfully sh%£e all round, without a single redeeming feature.
Poor imitation of Tarrantino film escBy a customer , 22 Jun 2012Just watched this Bruce isnt very convincing but enjoyed it anyway, though I did think it was a bit Tarrantino-e-fied.
Overall I did think it was good content and plenty of fun !
Poor catch.By a customer , 22 Jun 2012Nothing about this film is worth mentioning. Bruce Willis's name suggested it would be a decent film, but I was wrong.
