This is one of those films that haven't been advertised to the max, so may easily pass under your radar totally unnoticed.. but it shouldn't !!! If it does you will miss a warm, darkly humerous and sentimental journey of loss, then finding out the parts of your partner you never knew and on to rebirth into a new life after the loss. Helped along with a really great soundtrack (Doves, Foo's, Magic Numbers, Gomez etc etc), and some wonderful acting, this is a really really good movie. I would definately recommend giving this one a go.
Bit of a 'girly' film, very predictable, a good watch with a few friends, box of chocs and a bottle of wine ... this film isn't gonna change your life but its OK.

Catch and Release is a alright movie, very slow-moving but deeply romantic. The cast were very good, Jennifer Garner and Timothy Olyphant were outstanding while Kevin Smith gave out the laughs or very little of it. It does make you feel depressed when you watch it, you should try it and see what you think. A one-off film with passion and romance.

Really loved this, didn't know quite what to expect as hadn't heard any of the hype that other people have commented on, other than I quite like Jennifer & Kevin so thought it would be worth a watch, & I wasn't disappointed. It won't set your world alight but it's a good mid-week film that will take you on a bit on an emotional rollercoaster. It's just a great story about relationships & the effect that you have on each without knowing it. Great choice of cast - they all complimented each other & were very believable - I'll probably buy it as it's the kind of film I could watch again. The soundtrack's fantastic - so much so that I bought it as soon as I'd watched it; Foo Fighters - Razor, The Lemonheads - My Drug Buddy & The Magic Numbers - Mornings Eleven to name but a few... Hope you enjoy this easy to watch film, about the people in your life that you care about, as much as I did.
problem with this disc unable to hear it can i have it resent
Wonderful feelgood movie...superb acting...stunning cinematography...heartfelt without being corny...Highly recommended.
I wasn't expecting much from this but I loved it. I watched it on a Saturday morning in my pyjamas and it was a perfect feel good movie for a rainy cold winter morning. Lots of characters which are believable. I loved the way the story unfold.

Great start then it just plodded along. Very boring and after 40 mins of nothing happening switched off, no interest at all to how it ended, was very predictable so I can probably have a very accurate guess.
This past weekend I was just getting over an infection that had me locked up in a dark, quiet room on my backside for several days. Saturday night I was finally up for a bit of sensory input, and watched the dire 'Music and Lyrics' with my wife. Even with that, my health was improving and the rest of the weekend could only improve from there. Right?
Oh, how wrong I was. Sunday evening my wife and I put in 'Catch and Release', and it didn't take long for my mind to wander back to what, comparatively, seemed the good ol' days of the infection which rendered me incapable of simple pleasures such as watching films.
As every cloud has its silver lining, C&R has Jennifer Garner's dimples. Beyond her girl-next-door good looks, though, this film brought absolutely zero to my sitting room on Sunday evening. The schmaltzy script was delivered with ill-timed pregnant pauses, almost stuttering in their awkwardness, and the 2-hr runtime seemingly took weeks to finish.
I'm a bloke, though, so its unfair for me to go off too much on the purest form of chick flick. Let me quote from my wife about 1/3 of the way into the film, 'This isn't the best movie I've ever seen...' Gents, we all recognize this as code for, 'This film is draining the will to live from me, and I'm the one who requested it.'
Outside of slasher films, and other celluloid-based entertainment that really doesn't try to be good - just loud - it really doesn't get much worse than 'Catch and Release'.
