LOVEFiLM Review Catfish

  • 4 stars out of 5

The first rule about Catfish is, don't talk about Catfish. (But, if curiosity gets the better of you, here's our review...)

The first rule of Catfish is don't talk about Catfish!

The more you know about this docu-film in advance the less impact it will have.

As such, I'm not going to even review it, other than to say it's well worth a watch.

RUBBISH!!! Well to leave a review it has to have twenty words apparently. How many ways can you say a movie is crap?!?!?!?

One of the worst films i've seen in recent years. If you believe it to be a true story, you are as gullible as the characters in the movie. There are gaping holes in the realism of the movie, eg why they begin filming from so early on in the process, how they just so happen to capture everything of note on camera, and how the sound quality is always so good. The characters are naive, gullible and therefore implausible. The plot is very thin and predictable. He meets someone online and suspects she's not what she seems - then he meets her, and she's not what she seems. It's also rather creepy for a grown man to befriend (ostensibly) a little girl through facebook, then arrange to go and meet her, armed with a camcorder. The camcorder 'Blair Witch' style could have worked for this movie, had there been an interesting plot. Hats off to the directors who've made a lot of money out of something truly diabolical.

  • Definitely worth a watch

Just watched this film and really enjoyed it. I was a bit wary at first as the blurb you read about it mentions Hitchcock and says its a thriller and I'm easily scared. However this is deceiving and it is actually a very heart warming movie. There is no doubt in my mind this is a true, genuine documentary. Its easy to see when people are not acting from their body language and unscripted style of conversation and this is even more apparent in the interview with the film makers in the special features. Its definitely worth a watch.

i loved this film, although why he wasnt curious enough to google this mega talented family sooner baffles me. I found Catfish endearing and shows how easy it is to create a ficticious life via the internet, and become whatever you want people to believe you are. I felt sorry for Nev, and think he documented the budding relationship and discovery well, and thought he handled confronting Angela with tact and respect. Would of liked to see less of Nevs hairy chest tho! YUK!

Hideous pointless rubbish. Ugly characters unless you don't mind the sight of hairy armpits filling your screen for large amounts of time. Nothing comes of this amateur rubbish, don't let the beginning or the trailer fool you, I promise you, you will be disappointed. The ending is a dull joke.
