Very poignant tale of a young couple who's hopes and aspirations slowly sink away into despair in 60's Britain which looked a very desperate place for those in the unfortunate situation the young couple and their family found themselves in. Every ray of hope is dashed and optimism extinguished by the end of the piece but is brilliantly acted and hugely thought provoking. I saw an American film somewhat similar to this a few years ago dealing with the poverty trap that exists there - it stayed with me for weeks afterwards and though this is more dated the sadness and despair of the plight of homeless at that time takes some accepting even now - brilliant piece if British Drama - don't miss it.
