Jellicle songs better on the stageBy a customer from Bristol , 16 Sep 2008This is a bit of a mixed bag. There are some stand-out performances, notably from Elaine Page as Grizabella and John Mills as Gus the Theatre Cat. Sadly, though, there are also some weak voices (I personally didn't think much of Old Deuteronomy) that detract from the overall standard of the performance.
Frankly, a musical like this is always going to be better on the stage. This is particularly trye of Cats - it has no real story to propel it along, and when you're watching at home you don't have the benefit of the audience, the occasion, and the stagecraft of the theatre production to paper over the cracks.
Pure musicBy a customer from Birchington , 23 Jul 2008Watched it again and again.
Brilliant!By Gail Jackson from Harrow, Middlesex , 06 Jul 2008Not as good as being in the theatre but a very close thing. I have seen the show on stage 4 times and now I can watch it to my hearts content at home.
CATSBy headless (38 reviews) from London , 29 Jun 2008I saw this in the west end when i was very young. Enjoyed watching it again , even if it was in my front room.
Customer ReviewBy a customer from UK , 23 Jun 2008I watched this with my daughter aged 10 and we were both transfixed. Just goes to show its still a great musical today and works very well on DVD. The bigger the screen the better the effect!
