Patience Philips is a shy, reserved young woman who wants to be an artist but instead is a designer for an advertising company. She is mousy and lacking in self-esteem even when she gets her big break to work on the launch of a major beauty product for her mean-spirited, ruthless boss. But a series of events initiated by a mysterious cat results in her discovering a terrifying secret that leads to her murder. That same cat breathes new life into her, creating a strong, brave woman within her that wrestles with her previous self for control of her mind and body--a body that can now do amazing things. Academy Award winner Halle Berry is captivating as Patience, a female superhero for the 21st century. She is fearless as she seeks revenge on the people who killed her, and she attempts to save the public from the release of a dangerous product. As the Catwoman side of her battles George Hedare (Lambert Wilson) and his wife, Laurel (Sharon Stone), who he has decided is now too old to be the face of his company, the Patience side of her gets involved with hot cop Tom Lone (Benjamin Bratt), who is caught in the middle of her two-sided personality. First-time director Pitof keeps things moving at a fast pace, with quick cuts, sweeping camerawork, and pounding music. Alex Borstein provides comic relief as Patience's best friend, and SIX FEET UNDER's Frances Conroy plays a cat lady who knows the secret history of felines through the ages.

Director Pitof's lame fantasy action adventure is a spin-off from the Batman franchise in name only. Selina Kyle, the part-kitty character memorably played by Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns, is here dropped in favour of a new creation. Halle Berry is unconvincing as scatty artist Patience Philips, who's revived by a mystical cat after being murdered to become the eponymous, ultra-confident feline superheroine — a sometime jewel thief and righter of wrongs. Using her new-found skills, Philips sets about uncovering a plot to flood the world with a toxic face cream, a scheme fronted by Sharon Stone, who's excellent as a model-gone-bad. What ought to be something for everyone turns into something for hardly anyone, as a romantic subplot involving sexy policeman Benjamin Bratt serves only to muddy the main story. Poor special effects (with weak echoes of better superhero outings such as Spider-Man) and an uneven central performance contribute to what may well be the flop summer blockbuster of 2004.
Halle Berry looks even sexier and more wicked in her skin-tight leather cat suit than Michelle Pfeiffer. Directed with style.
This isn't anywhere near as bad as some critics have made out and it's actually quite enjoyable if you're in the right mood.
If it was more trashy it would be much more fun but unfortunately though Sharon Stone seems game it just doesn't happen. There are a few giggle-inducing moments but these are far too few.
Halle Berry is OK apart from when she's trying to be frumpy - she just looks like a beautiful woman who's dressed herself from the Humana box, in the dark.
The CGI work is not realy up to scratch as too often you're aware that what you're looking at is not real.
i like to think my heading sums it up, it really is just a bad film.
Megan Fox has become the latest star tipped to take on the role of Catwoman in a forthcoming Batman movie. The sexy star is rumoured to be in the running for the part, if The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan decides to resurrect the legendary comic book character, last portrayed on film by Halle Berry in 2004's Catwoman. Actress Michelle Pfeiffer also suited up to play the villainous femme fatale in the 1992 blockbuster Batman Returns. According to The Sun, 23-year-old Fox will step into Read more
