    [Highly rated reviewer]

This short documentary film looks at the history of the bagpipes from Roman times to its place as a musical instrument indelibly linked with Scottish Highland soldiers. Using segments from the 'Instrument of War' TV series, it features war veterans and other ex-soldiers telling stories and anecdotes about how bagpipes have been used in war situations as morale boosters or for diversion techniques.

The DVD extras comprise 13 short separately-selectable pieces from the series, including Isla St Clair singing 'Piper At The Alamo', the Royal Jordanian Army Pipers on parade, a Pathe newsreel about a World War 2 bagpiper, and racing driver Jackie Stewart talking about pipers who spring into action when he wins races.

But there's no sign of Phil Collins or Capercaillie, who are advertised on the DVD sleeve. And with a main feature running time of only 30 minutes, where's the rest of it? It's supposed to be 90 minutes long!
