Based on the XBox game Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad, the thin plot follows Aya in her bid to find her sister Saki and foil the evil Dr. Sugita. With a small group of helpers she hacks and slashes zombies with great finesse with her samurai sword.
The film has some fun nods to the game such as blood splats on the screen and power-up moves during the battles. The zombies are varied, traditional slow movers, armed ones, ninja types, again similar to the game. The action and wire work is well done in a comic book style. We found best game to play during the film is to guess when the white fluff on Ayas bikini is finally going to get some zombie blood on it and stop being whiter than white.
This is not going to become one of my favourite films, but is a fun way to spend 75 minutes. A good action packed no brainer.
