Richard Attenborough ladles on the syrup for this Chaplin biography. He's obviously an admirer of the man, but this is pretty thin stuff. Has good moments of lightness, and RDJ does his best with a Cant seem to say Co**ney here! accent (and not actually looking anything like Chaplin), but the McCarthy trials bad / Chaplin a badly treated hero theme is really underlined with extra thick black marker. Should have been better.
