Number One film
By sara from Derbyshire , 13 Feb 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
This is an early Charlie Chan black and white film with angreen tinge. Don't let this put you off. It is one of the rare films that includes all of Chans family rather than just his number one son, with Warner Orland playing Chan.
To sum up the film it is like watching the old Sherlock Holmes films with Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce rather than the newer, less atmopsheric versions on tv. Warner Orland is Charlie Chan.
Chan takes his entire family to the Circus. The owner has sent for him because he has been receiving threatening letters and asks Chan to investigate. The film shows a lot of the circus acts and number one son falls for one of the performers. As usual there is a murder, and everyone is under suspision including the mad ape. An attempt is made on Chan's life and number one son does some detecting work of his own.- Was this review helpful to you?

(2)Terrible print .... interesting film
By Andrew from Birmingham, UK , 27 Nov 2006Firstly I have to mention the DVD quality is very poor, as though it had been copied from a nth generation video copy. Rarely seen 1 SO bad.
Film is a good mid 30s Charlie Chan, solid supporting performances & well - though not lavishly -staged.- Was this review helpful to you?
