Advice for all, not just purists: Don't order Disc 1, only get the Bonus Disc. The voiceover completely ruins a gorgeous film. This is a brilliant film from a genius. The Kid is a better start for Chaplin virgins.
A must-see in the true sense of the expression - contains some of the all-time classic moments of screen comedy [The Tramp eating his boot and sucking the nails clean to stave off his hunger, his bread roll dance etc] and typical Chaplin pathos cooked to perfection.
An innocent, heart-warming gem. [DVD restoration is very impressive, undoubtedly the film didn't look or sound this good in the 80 years since the first print dried]
