The master himself, on top form and in one of perhaps the top twenty of films that have been ever made. All the Chaplin ingredients, including as always social comment without preachiness, amid the hilarity and pathos. Never mind the fact that modern capitalism (thirties style) does not get a fair chance to state its case, Charlie Chaplin is a sufficient antidote to the power of advertising and consumerism, showing the down side of the American Dream.
