Is it worth a butchers?

When I first saw this film 20+ years ago (on betamax!?!), about a farmyard pig that faces the chop, it was a charming tale over friendship through adversity. However, animated films have come a long way since, both in structure and style (not to mention musically!), and as such this hasn't aged well. I got it out for my young daughter, probably more out of nostalgia than anything, but sadly it didn't hold her interest anything like I'd hoped, and in honesty I can see why. There is apparently a remake in the pipeline, which will hopefully give a decent story a much needed makeover.
