Babe wannabeBy JediSi (301 reviews) from Kent , 25 Aug 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]Charlottes Web is a story of a pig named Wilbur. He was born as part of a litter of eleven and was naturally selected when he was unable to find a spare teat, for early slaughter. The farmers daughter, Fern rescues the pig from certain death by adopting him as a pet. She raises the pig until he is too big to fit in the house (I call that a fine feast, mmm bacon!). Sorry.
She takes Wilbur to live with her uncle, and its only then that Fern realizes that her pig will be slaughtered for Christmas dinner.
The film is cleverly produced but its not like we havent seen it before. Remember Babe in 95. The world was taken by storm by this courageous sheep chaser. During that time, the CGI was considered ground-breaking, thus Wilbur may not be as celebrated as Babe. Just dont mention Pig In The City (Oh how the Americans ruin everything).
That said the kids love it

Good Family FunBy emmacress (18 reviews) from Thetford , 24 May 2012
[Highly rated reviewer]What a great family film.
So yes i've heard it compared to films such as babe but I don't think you should. It's great in it's own right. Even more fun if you've read the book. As a classic that I loved from my own childhood this was a rare treat to find it almost as good as the book (sorry but i'm always going to like the book better!!).
Dakota Fanning shines as Fern, and the love felt for Charlotte.. Well it's nice to see a spider in the starring role!!!!
This is great for an afternoon of family fun, lighthearted but enougth to jerk those heart strings, Charlotte's Web will be enjoyed by all!

Not badBy Lauren Edwards from Middlesex, , 19 May 2011Someone recommended this to me as its apparently a classic and a classic children's book (which I never read despite being an avid reader). I quite enjoyed the film but can't say I'd watch it again. Think most kids would enjoy this film a lot though.
