The book was a classic and I recommend it to everyone to read, it's beautiful.
This film adaptation is definitely of it's time. Wonderful, heartfelt performances from all concerned, especially Claire Bloom; one can understand Charly falling in love with her.
But why the psychedelic sequence in the middle? It spoils the arc of the story, so simply yet heartbreakingly described in Daniel Keyes novel. Charly suddenly turns into Austin Powers! No, no, no.
I normally dislike remakes on principal, but this could be done so much better.
