When the daughter of the US president and a Secret Service agent flee from protocol across Europe, you keep hoping for a bit of action to liven things up in what is essentially a tedious travelogue. In this dim echo of William Wyler's Roman Holiday, Mandy Moore stars as the White House “princess”, fed up by being hemmed in for security reasons. She makes a dash for it and ends up on the back of a Vespa driven by Matthew Goode, who's really a Secret Service agent assigned to protect her. She wants to make it to Berlin's Love Parade, a kind of Teutonic Mardi Gras but, first of all, they hit Prague and Florence. While director Andy Cardiff seeks out all the postcard touristy bits, there's only weak chemistry between the hero and heroine.

    A great family film

Firstly, you have to accept that this President of the United States is an all-round nice guy, even if in one deleted scene the President says “Why can’t she (daughter) just do what I tell her to do just like the British”.

The President’s daughter, Mandy Moore, wants to rebel (just a little bit) and be free of secret service agents following her everywhere. On the run she meets Matthew Goode (who occasionally copies Hugh Grant’s mannerisms), but is he what he seems?

Should she fall in love with him as they travel across Europe? Will he fall for her? Does true love run smooth? Will it all turn out alright in the end?

Not much doubt about where the story will take us and it’s great fun and quite suitable for all the family to watch.

Shame about the McGruff character. I am sure he is supposed to be funny, but I just found him very irritating. His small part would have ended up totally in my ‘deleted scenes’.

Shame also about the bungee jump. As the two leading characters fall together from the bridge it looks totally convincing, but the next shot looks like one stunt person with a dummy attached. Surely for a few dollars more this could have been done properly.

    Still, it’s a great film.

    chasing liberty

I really enjoyed this film as there was action, romance and comedy.

It is about the president's daughter who feels trapped and bored in her over protected life, and decides to escape. There she meets Ben a undercover body guard working for her dad, and she knows nothing about it though. They go travelling wear the encounter new adventures and new feelings- for each other. They fall in love but she finds out is secret- and you will have to find out what happens next!

It is a really good movie for teenagers-girls and I would highly recommend it!

Pour a glass of wine and relax.

This is a good film to sit down with your mates and watch or your boyfriend/girlfriend. Any daughter that has ever felt overly protected by her parent's is going to get this film. Its not slushy, just friendly and easy to watch. Great scenery.

    All too familiar...

Is it just me or is this film almost exactly the same as 'First Daughter' starring Katie Holmes? Of the two though, this one is definitely better. I felt it dragged a bit though and began hoping for it to finish quickly. An average chick flick...

    Amazing film

This film is totally amazing, I loved every minute of it. If you are a fan of Mandy Moore, then you should certainly watch this film.

Aimed at girls rather than teens or older - nothing original or special

This film was a little dissapointing as the trailer seemed really good. If you liked What a Girl Wants with Colin Firth then you will probably like this - it's quite similar although this film mainly concentrates on a President's young daughter who goes on a rampage. Don't go out of your way to see this one.
