A multi-hyphenate in the truest sense of the term, Mike Binder wrote, directed and stars in The Search for John Gissing. An American businessman (Binder) and his wife (Garofalo) arrive in London under the assumption that he was brought in to consult on an impending business merger. The fact is Matthew Barnes (Binder) is being groomed to replace John Gissing (Rickman), his British counterpart. Gissing has seen the writing on the wall and isn't about to quietly give up his position. Instead he sends the American couple on a series of comic misadventures in an attempt to make the couple's stays as unpleasant as possible.
