Cheers - Season 1
Cheers is the bar run by recovering alcoholic and former Red Sox pitcher Sam Malone (Ted Danson). When Diane Chambers (Shelley Long), a teaching assistant, is dumped by her professor boyfriend, she takes a job waiting tables at the bar, thus beginning an on-again/off-again relationship with Sam. Ever present characters in the establishment include salty bar maid Carla (Rhea Perlman), and barflies Norm (George Wendt)--who has the bar's highest tab, and Cliff (John Ratzenberger)--a fact-quoting postman. One of the most beloved and critically-acclaimed television series of all time, Cheers ran for ten seasons. This collection contains the entire first series.

Cheers!
We found Cheers years ago, and much prefer the ones with Shelley in, we must have missed a couple of the first episodes so was good to fill in, as when we first watched them, some are absolutely brilliant, others forgettable, but we really got to like the characters, so are enjoying the Blast from the Past (another good dvd!)

Cheers is the right phrase...
...cheers for a great TV show, so well written and the cast just amazing.
Hard to believe that when cheers first aired in the US it was the very bottom of the ratings!!! It was 77th out of 77 in the US 'Nielsen Ratings' WOW was that ever wrong!
Cheers just went straight to number one and in my heart it will always be one of the very best of the US and as an extra bonus we got 'Frasier' and just how popular was that and for good reason:) -

Former Cheers star John Ratzenberger has found romance again - with a top Hollywood publicist. The actor, who is the only actor whose voice can be heard in all of Pixar's animated movies, is dating Charmaine Blake.
