Cherry 2000 Details

Melanie Griffith's career has certainly had its ups and downs, and this sci-fi thriller falls firmly into the latter category. Set in the year 2017 when sexual partners have been replaced by robot playmates, it follows the travails of Sam Treadwell (David Andrews), who heads off into the desert for spare parts with expert scavenger E Johnson (Griffith) when his mechanical dream girl breaks down. Although there are some nice effects, they can't hide the B-movie performances or the utterly ludicrous plot.

Post-apocalyptic fantasy of a familiar kind, silly but enjoyable if you are in a tolerant enough mood to accept Melanie Griffith as the female equivalent of Mad Max.
