Melanie Griffith's career has certainly had its ups and downs, and this sci-fi thriller falls firmly into the latter category. Set in the year 2017 when sexual partners have been replaced by robot playmates, it follows the travails of Sam Treadwell (David Andrews), who heads off into the desert for spare parts with expert scavenger E Johnson (Griffith) when his mechanical dream girl breaks down. Although there are some nice effects, they can't hide the B-movie performances or the utterly ludicrous plot.

    • Radio Times
  • Post-apocalyptic fantasy of a familiar kind, silly but enjoyable if you are in a tolerant enough mood to accept Melanie Griffith as the female equivalent of Mad Max.

    80's gentle sci-fi

Melanie griffith in a low budget sci-fi. Guy is getting it on with his sex droid when she goes into meltdown, yeah, teenage bragging fantasy. Anyway, he hires Mel to take him to the Wastelands to find a new sex toy, where they get to fight the baddies like all the rest of the low budget 80's wasteland films. This is more of a gentle film, no nudity, swearing or gory stuff, overall not a great film, a bit boring at times.
