  • So bad it's bad

I can't be the only one who thought this was one of the worst slasher films ever. I know it's a worn out genre, but that's no excuse. None of the so-called twists were a surprise and as for being a clever film... rubbish.

This isn't actually too bad. The storyline is somewhat original and it has definitely has its tongue its own cheek. It offers some new twists to traditional clichés of the genre and a higher quality than a lot of the other slashers of its time. It's certainly not as good as 'Scream' but it's much better than 'Urban Legend'. I'd also like to point out that the film suffered several cuts to attain an R-Rating losing most of its planned edginess that director Geoffrey Wright originally conceived. Definitely check it out if you're a fan of slasher films or teen orientated films from the late 1990s/early 2000s.

I can't help but like this film, seen it a few times when I was a teen and I loved it then. Only now do I realise how funny the plot is and how bad the acting is. I still like it all the same, even for the bad points. :) think I always will.

  • Slasher?

After watching various Slasher films, they all have typical storylines and their conventions are pretty much the same. After watching this, the conventions are slightly twisted. In teenage slasher films, the more sexually presented characters are usually killed first with sharp household weapons or chainsaws if you like that kind of thing!

Cherry Falls however uses teenages virginity to make them the victims aposed to the sexually portrayed characters. The film has its hidden black comedy, which i found amazingly funny considering the amount of blood and killings.

Overall i thought it was quite intresting to view, i would recommend this to any slasher lover, it still has a fair amount of blood content and killings and a psychotic killer and the obvious black comedy.

A better than average slasher movie which rather ostentatiously overturns one genre convention while sticking with the majority. Worth a look
