Six-year old Alex Vincent's must-have “Good Guy” doll, Chucky, is possessed by the soul of dead serial killer Brad Dourif and goes on a wisecracking murder spree to get revenge on the cop (Chris Sarandon) who put him away. A steady stream of standard scares is dragged from a thinly-stretched, formula slasher plot, thanks to panache beyond the call of duty from director Tom Holland. Novelty value and great special effects made this dummy run a big hit. Three sequels followed.

    Good Old Chucky

Having pretty much grown up with the Childs Play movies i am of course a big fan.

Child's Play is a classic 'coming to get you' movie.

A murderer manages to transfer his soul into the rather scary looking Good Guy Doll. His mission is to then find a human into which he can transfer his soul forever.

He comes into contact with a little boy who then becomes the target for his new body.

People get killed along the way in scenarios which are humorous or just plain freaky (remember....it's a doll!).

The young boy must eventually defend himself against this doll in order to protect his own life.

My favourite part of this movie & all of the Child's Play movies that followed is the sometimes hillarious & gross ways of maiming & killing Chucky.

A must for fans of a bit of gore, a bit of cheese & anyone who likes Brad Douriff!

    Try to laugh

The First time i saw Chucky it was in the Bride of Chucky, and All I did was laugh from start to finish. My wife recently persuaded me to watch the origanals so here I am. I have to say I tried to laugh but as the film progressed i found myself less amused and more terrified. The tension in this film Builds up like a slowly boiling kettle, and Chucky is genuinly frightening, rather than the comedian he becomes in the later sequal's. Classic scares that will make you think twice about buying your child a large talking doll!!!

    Good horror thriller

This is where we see the killer doll and it goes on a killing spree. Nobody believes the little boy who it belongs too until it's too late.

A good horror thriller type movie.

    Childs play

Has to be one of the best old films I have ever seen although the graphics of Chucky may have been a bit out of sync the plot was clever but maybe a bit predictable.

From this film I cant wait to see childs play 2 i hope it lives to its expectations!!!!

An original idea that works well.

Chucky's first outing proves that a bit of imagination is vital to produce an excellent film.

If Chucky had been a human villain the film would have been an average one. But transfer the evil and malice to an innocent looking toy and you have a horror film that delivers.

The film also manages to avoid the usual American sugariness that is employed whenever a young child features.

    Well worth watching.

    Love the Chuck

It’s hard to believe this is nearly twenty years old, but it still works well and Chucky is one of the greatest horror icons alongside the likes of Freddy and Jason.

This is now a horror classic and must be seen by all fans of the genre.

With this and the Bride of Chucky you have got the best picks from the franchise. Enjoy!

    good!

Really enjoyed this, not having seen any of the Chucky films before. (Intend to watch Child's Play 2, and Bride Of Chucky now.) Both funny and scary, Child's Play was easy to watch and not too long- Chucky did remind me of the Terminator at the end though!

    Disturbing

Far from being a crass horor film this film is actually one of the best of modern times, although it is disturbing in the extreme. My young daughter watched it and had nightmares, so be warned.

    Chucky

I watched Bride Of Chucky first and found myself surprized ny this film. It is much more sinister than the newer films (Bride, Seed Of Chucky). It has less witty one liners. But it is a very original and freaky film and very tense. Great little horror/thriller. Classic, well worth a rent.

    Unsafe toys

Don't buy toys from Tramps in dark alleyways. You have been warned. A Possessed 'Good Guy' doll goes on a killing spree. His owner, a child called Andy knows his secret, but who listens to a child?

This is the film that started a franchise and has just been allowed back on shelves after a spell inside. Good, horrible puppetry. Lock your toys in the cupboard before viewing.
