Adapted from a short story in Stephen King's Night Shift anthology, this is a pretty lame horror yarn padded to feature length with tepid special effects and ludicrous dialogue. Travellers Peter Horton and Linda Hamilton avoid being sacrificed to the “Corn God” in a rural Nebraska community, held in a grip of pagan terror by a 12-year-old preacher. Once past the atmospheric opening sequence — kids slaughtering their parents in a café — it's downhill all the way for director Fritz Kiersch's tacky nightmare.
