Whatever happened to Cuba Gooding Jr? Just three years after winning an Oscar for Jerry Maguire, he turns up in this bad rip-off of Speed. Diner employee Tom (Skeet Ulrich) hijacks the truck of ice cream delivery driver Arlo (Gooding Jr) in order to transport a secret chemical weapon that will annihilate everything for miles around if its temperature rises above 50 degrees. The catch is that terrorists are also after the weapon. Both stars are totally wasted in this routine chase thriller.
A feeble variant on Speed, in which acting, direction and script combine to produce a flat and uninteresting experience.
As films go, this wasn't too bad. I'm not really sure why it never made it to the big screen, maybe it did and I just missed it, I don't know.
But I'm a big fan of Cuba and I was pretty impressed with Skeet Ulrich too. They played off each other pretty well.
Unfortunately for them, the script and storyline were a bit weak which made it out to be a very average film.
Overall, it's a good bit of fun, as long as you don't expect too much from it.
I rented this because I'm a fan of Cuba Gooding Jr. It had a lot of potential and the actors involved did a good job with what they had. Script was weak but, like I said fun to watch all the same.
