After faithfully and happily celebrating Christmas their entire lives, and with their daughter Blair in Peru to serve a stint in the Peace Corps, Luther and Nora Krank are facing the prospect of a very lonely holiday. One blustery Chicago night, Luther glances longingly at an alluring poster in a travel agency window and .. Read more

No amount of seasonal spirit could inject any ho-ho-ho into this festive turkey. Adapted from John Grisham's novel Skipping Christmas, this is a soulless tale that raises so few laughs, it barely justifies its comedy label. Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis play the Kranks, a Chicago couple who incur the wrath of their local community when they decide to forgo Christmas and its associated trappings in favour of a luxury cruise. Poorly scripted and lazily directed, the film stamps all over individual thought and action, and instead celebrates herd mentality and excessive consumerism, unfairly painting its two lead characters as selfish villains. As the star of The Santa Clause movies, Allen is obviously used to Yuletide nonsense, but even he flounders when faced with such unfunny material. The real tragedy here is Curtis, however, who totally wastes her ample comic talents on slapstick and shameful mugging.

Glumly scripted comedy that attempts to create a feeling of community, but only manages one of conformity.
I don't think there was any point in this movie, i like a good comedy and usually laugh at silly stuff but the only reason i was laughing through this was at how poor the movie was, it seemed rushed and just looked like it was trying to cash in on the christmas festivites. Only rent this movie if your bored and haven't got anything better to do.
I went to see this at the cinema last christmas with a group of teenagers and we all said that it was awful. The comedy misses the mark by a mile and Jamie Lee Curtis is dreadful. This film really should have been funny and i still can not work out exactly what was missing. My advice is to choose something else!!!
this christmas you could do a lot worse than watch this one. only 90 mins long so wont bore even the strongest anti chrimbo viewer. has its funny moments and generally just reminds everyone what the festive period is all about.so much better than all the guff on the tv this christmas. great for the littluns and grown ups so give it a go
i love it to the very end one good comedy
A great movie for all the family.
Film leaves you with a Feel Good Factor.

The Kranks Celebrate Christmas over enthusiatically every year, their daughter leaves to work abroad and they are stuck without plans for the holidays... so they book a cruise...
And skip Christmas.
i thought it was such a fun film. Especially the botox scene... had me in stitches.
really bad! i tried really hard to watch till the end but i couldn't as it was so bad i went to sleep! DON'T WATCH!
I am personnally a great fan of Tim Allen and was looking forward to this movie.
How dissapointed I was . . .
This movie has no point at all, I don't know if this is just me, because I'm British, but what is the big deal in not putting up a snowman? The whole street hates them because they didn't put up decorations!
You feel like shouting at the people, 'Why don't you mind your own business and let us go on our cruise???'
A pathetic film, try Home Improvement or Santa Clause, some great Tim Allen shows.
this film is not as good as what i expected and took a little time to get the story going
THE KIDS PROBABLY ENJOYED THIS MORE THAN WE DID, BUT IT STILL HAD SOME FUNNY MOMENTS. IF YOU'RE AFTER A FEEL GOOD FAMILY FILM WITH A XMAS THEME YOU COULD NO A LOT WORSE.
Ok, so it's not 'It's a wonderful life', 'The Bishop's Wife'(best christmas film ever) or even 'White Christmas' but this isn't as bad as some of the reviewers make out. Most people will probably be surprised to find that this is based on a story by John Grisham, but it's not a legal thriller!
Tim Allen plays Tim Allen as usual, Jamie Lee Curtis plays his wife and the always excellent Dan Aykroyd plays the forceful neighbour. Good Cast, amusing storyline, dissappointing ending though. Much more watchable than most reviews are making out, Good seasonal family fun film.
i love it to the very end one good comedy
