Christmas in the Clouds.... Wish I was There.
By Brenda Lynton-Escreet from crag bank, UK , 27 Nov 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
This movie took me back to a gentler more generous time in the cinema. Interested in seeing a movie that collected a Sundance Award I was soon involved in a sense of a production team who were determined to present a positive take on first nation peoples takling everyday issues like single parenthood, poverty, aging and an old comedy of errors... falling in love and mistaken identity. In a nicely worked out switch. gentle fun was poked at the disfunctional anglo who arrived to review the resort that offers a christmas in the clouds. The lonely anglo woman doctor stops viewing the staff as a project to be studied and finds a new life with a fiesty senior. The movie s star was the setting , mountains and snow being an unbeatable double in any movie but they are run a close second by the chef who won my heart over the beefcake represented by the manager and the beautiful stranger. Maybe easy to dismiss this movie as White Christmas on the Res. but we found it a gentle movie , no one got raped, eaten, dismembered alive or brutalised. Viva the gentle movie, honey for the soul in troubled times. Thank you to all the cast and company.- Was this review helpful to you?
