Better with the fast-forward button

There's a lot to dislike here, from the poor-man's-Stephen-King-style plot to the irritating narration. However, dotted along the slow unravelling of this tale are a few tense moments. There's just too much slack between them.- Was this review helpful to you?

(7)Tedious and tired... like Christopher Roth
By scareycc (2 reviews) , 31 Jan 2013Sometimes when a film receives bad or mediocre reviews, I recognize it is subjective and have continued to watch and enjoy the film. However, sadly this film is not one of them. The pace is slow and parts of the story are tedious. The author's narration is very good and descriptive, though his accent is not convincing as 'American' author? (Instead of watching the film I found myself wondering whether he was supposed to be American or someone who had just moved to America!) Some of the gore would be akin to the Saw, Hostel etc films but if you like those films this will be way too slow for you. The lighting in parts of the film is so dark that it is hard to discern what is happening on screen. This took my interest away from the storyline rather than add a sense of terror. Overall, the idea under different direction may have worked better but eventually after an hour I turned it off. A pile of ironing was calling me. (And for a film addict that is rare!) Maybe the book worked better this time.- Was this review helpful to you?

Rather hum drum
By Minny (567 reviews) from London , 16 Jan 2012Nothing special here. It's an average horror film. I didn't think it as bad as some other reviewers. It was watchable to the end and I did not use the fast forward button but it wont win any Oscars and it is just a run of the mill horror.- Was this review helpful to you?
