In an unremarkable period drama, three bosom buddies live and love their way through the campus unrest of an American college during the 1960s. Karen Allen, Brad Davis and Shelley Long lead a strong cast, but there's little they can really do with patchy material that never quite gels. Director Rob Cohen is better known for such films as DragonHeart and Dragon: the Bruce Lee Story.
Pleasant, sugar-coated account of growing up, set in the 50s and much concerned with Catholic notions of sin; it is all neatly and glossily done, and the acting carries more conviction than might be expected from its conventional story.
Minnie Driver is a young Irish girl, who falls for a young lad in University in Dublin. Watchable, but predictable. I enjoyed watching it, but it seems quite dated now. Worth watching for the appearance of Colin Firth, and his scary moustache! OK for a rainy afternoon rom-com.
A nice girls tale.
Fine if you like that sort of thing.
