    [Highly rated reviewer]

Minnie Driver is a young Irish girl, who falls for a young lad in University in Dublin. Watchable, but predictable. I enjoyed watching it, but it seems quite dated now. Worth watching for the appearance of Colin Firth, and his scary moustache! OK for a rainy afternoon rom-com.

  • Heartwarming story

A heartwarming and encouraging story that demonstrates the power of the church in Ireland and its' moral stance on relationships that cascades down to ordinary people and has such a big influence in their lives. Dominant parents are shown up for what they really are - bigoted religious hypocrites so typical of the Irish at that time and beyond (unfortunately). Spirited Irish girls make it enjoyable and the ending more than compensates for the dark undertones - all in all a great film that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I would class this film as watchable. It is verry predictable, in other words I predicted the end right at the beginning, enough said!

Quite amazing. It's just over a week since I rented this title and I had to read about it again before I could write a review. Now that's what I call impressive!!!!!!!!!!

I remember that it was quite well made and that the acting was superb in places but the story...I don't remember, but watch it anyway. It's not a total waste of time. (I think)

Excellent acting and script but the plot is too telescoped to be wholly successful. The whole cast was just right and in particular Minnie Driver is super in this her debut. A good Irish drama and well worth watching.

  • Still good after all this time.

I still enjoyed this film although its been a few years since I watched it last. I admit its mainly because of Chris O'Donnell (& his dodgy Irish accent). Its set in rural Ireland in trhe 1960's and is a 'boys meets girl' saga. Remember the tissues.
