A lacking addition to the crime/thriller genreBy Alexander Peretti from Kent , 16 Jul 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]The film features some very talented people such as Harvey Keitel and Timothy Hutton, aswell as Stephen Dorff who is ultimately cool, but the material just does not do them justice.
None of the characters had that much depth which makes the film slow in places as its unsure where its going... in a bad way.
Some of the violence is graphic but ultimately realistic which is not a bad thing in this type of film and I actually found it quite refreshing.
The film is worth watching for fans of the genre and of those actors, otherwise move on.
Oh and watch out for Lucy Liu in the strip club, a most interesting early role :)

Seen It All Before.By filmsaremypassion (149 reviews) from Bexhill , 30 Apr 2009I rented this as I am a fan of Stephen Dorff for his talent and not always for his damn good looks. After a robbery of jewels in Palm Springs, Skip (Dorff) turns against the gang shooting two and leaving Roy (Harvey Keital) for dead. But he's out for bloody revenge for Skip, being cared for a dead man's wife (Franke Jassan) and trying not to die in this violent world. Yes, it has some good gripping moments and good pefomances from Dorff who is oh so sexy and Keital but this kind of revenge films have been done in different ways. Nothing new here, plenty of bloody violence and a ending that is slightly chessy to me. So it's good for a hour and a half but don't expect anything new here.
Quite coolBy gianino (648 reviews) from London , 19 Aug 2008Nothing new but quite cool. The plot is a bit conventional but Harvey Keitel and Stephen Dorff are at their best and both deliver a very good performance.
EnjoyableBy mikdav (18 reviews) from Sleaford , 26 Jan 2008I enjoyed this film for the convincing acting although the plot was a basic revenge thriller-but then again I like revenge thrillers.
Revenge that tastes of nothing....By a customer from Manchester, England , 10 Jul 2006A rather pathetic run-of-the-mill revenge thriller, cliched and annoying characters, set-up, plot, and conclusion.
A Great Cast But A Bad Movie.By MAXIMILIAN (190 reviews) from BURNHAM , 08 Feb 2006CITY OF INDUSTRY is a tired hist-gone-wrong-revenge thriller. KEITEL, DORFF and FAMKE JANSEN all give decent performances, but their characters are underwritten and the basic plot is not involving enough. If you want to watch a classic Harvey Keitel heist-gone-wrong thriller - watch RESERVOIR DOGS again instead.
