what was danny dyer doing getting involved with this load of rubbish, if you want gritty london then hire nil by mouth instead, city rats is one of the worst films I have ever seen.

this has to be one of the worse films i have watched. when you think of what films these stars have been in they will all put this one down as the one they wished they turned down.

Yes -the storylines could have been explained a little more thoroughly but i enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the film, the direction and cinematography were stunning considering the film was made on a shoestring..the London landscape shots and dream sequences really captured the mood of the capitals underbelly. Dyer and Hussan's performances were spot on and far from the one dimensional gangsters we have known them to become..actually its quite a breath of fresh air. All in all the cast were great although i struggled with the artist who lived down stairs. I just didnt believe his missus would be so upset at losing him. His impotence was her undoing in this vain and photoshopped world. She believed he did'nt fancy her ..he looked to see if he could get his kicks upstairs.The atmosphere of the film is what i really loved about the movie its very dark and intense and gritty - not one to watch on a sunny day. The soundtrack by Mark MacClaine and Second Place is impressive and really adds to the film without it the film would have been a just a grown up version of Eastenders...and i can't stand that programme.Its a late night film or a rainy sunday afternoon laze about.City Rats great title that really expresses London's underbelly. I must admit i have a thing for these type of movies ..see also Short Cuts and Magnolia where lives interchange.The film has it flaws and maybe the writer/director could have tied up the loose ends a bit more fluently. I do think the promotion and cover art are misleading.I can just see all the football thugs and gangster wannabees pulling there hair out.. LOL.

i usually like danny dyer films but this one is poor, 3 seperate stories/character studies but it all lacks any interest - found it boring to be honest

what a waste of a night absolute rubbish can't believe I watched this right the way through lost count of how many times I nearly turned it off wish I had done what was Danny Dwyer thinking when he agreed to star in this film

A very very very poor mans attempt at a Alejandro González Iñárritu style film. Even Danny Dyer looks a bit embarrassed at being involved in this tripe.

Definately worth a look

Although a little dark and depressing I actually enjoyed this movie. Good acting by all especially so from Tamer Hassan. Don't expect balls out exitement, it's a slow but intriguing film and makes you want to see what happens at the end as all the charactors lives come together as in the movie 'crash' Just don't expect too much and you will enjoy.
