Having heard about the event now known as the rape of nanking and learning it is somewhat of a taboo subject amongst both the Japanese and the Chinese I was eager to watch this film to learn more about what went on during the event.

After watching the movie I think it is good from a historical point of view in the respect that it does give a portrayal of events from both sides of the Chinese/Japanese war and even with some outside perspective too but as a movie itself I found it rather boring due to the lack of dialogue and lots of the scenes in the film are purely actions or closeups of someone's face whilst something else happens in the background.

Recommend this film if you're interested in looking at the Rape of Nanking but if you are looking for a good action movie then don't get this movie because it is more documentary than cinema.
