Civic Duty

After being laid off when his company downsizes, the bitter and bigoted American accountant Terry Allen faces severe financial and mortgage problems. He uses his newly available time to snoop on his downstairs neighbour, Gabe Hassan, a Middle Eastern student whose Master's degree is sponsored by an Islamic organization in an American university. When Allen calls the FBI to tell them of his suspicions, the FBI Agent recommends he forget Hassan and as the final straw in their relationship, Allen's wife leaves him when she hears of his tattle-tale. In the end, Allen's obsessive bigotry and alienation trigger paranoia against his neighbour, with tragic conclusions.
