The camera focuses on Ray Gange, a punk music fan who leaves his dead-end job by landing work as a roadie for his favourite band, The Clash. Intertwined with numerous concert performances of classic songs ("London's Burning," "I Fought the Law," and more) and backstage footage from the band's 1978 tour, RUDE BOY paints a telling portrait of Britain's turbulent times through the youth of the day.

Scoring highly, if only for its excellent Clash concert footage, this blunt portrait of post-Jubilee Britain actually... read more on Time Out
Very dated, but still highly watchable - reminded me of my youth! The gigs, fashion & music etc bring the memories flooding back .. Not much a plot or storyline to speak of (main character, Ray, played by possibly the worse actor EVER!) but hey, those classic live Clash tracks more than make up for it .. Tommy Gun, White Man in Hammersmith Palais et al .. What is actually more interesting than the film itself, are the extras - extra live Clash footage, and a fascinating insite from the filmakers point of view .. Footage of the 'Rock against Racism' gig in Victoria Park, London is superb. Rest In Peace Joe - You are a Genius ..
I gotthis DVD out in an attempt to take a look back at my youth and I left it depressed. It is shocking,if it was meant as a backlash against Thatcher then they got it all messed up. The character goes nowhwere at anytime during the film and Maggie herself could have said 'told you so ' Boring and dull is this film saved only by Mick Jones in the studio singing Stay Free which is a south London Youth anthem along with Lost in the supermarket. I love the Clash but not this.
