The Clash films a simple story well told. From Joe Strummers fear of being beaten-up in a dole office that turned into the Clash-forming audition in a Shepherds Bush squat to Combat Rock and playing Shea Stadium in dark glasses, this is a crisp document of a bands brilliance.
Westway
is a good mix: the right amount of scene-setting, some great live footage and choice quotes that make the Pistols look like the amateurs they were but then maybe Joe and the boys just werent messed-up enough to be true punks..?
The Clash On Broadway and some extra quotes are the special features and they're consistent with the quality of the film. You just wish theyd made more music to talk about. Rent and learn.
Good, good interviews, good music, good footage, good band. Some decent extras, extended interviews and also the documentary, The Clash On Broadway, Rock nRoll Rasclatt!!!!!
