Kevin Smith signed on to direct new comedy Cop Out as a tribute to his late father. The filmmaker's latest release stars Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan as a pair of detectives on the hunt for a stolen collectible baseball card. Smith admits he was reluctant to read the script at first because he was turned off by the "homoerotic" original title, A Couple of Dicks, but he realised the movie had potential when he finally picked up the plot. Smith eventually decided to make the movie independently and took a pay cut to produce it with just a £3.3 million budget. But he is certain he... Read more

Smith, who encountered similar censorship issues with his 2008 Seth Rogen film Zack and Miri Make a Porno, admits it... Read more
Kevin Smith is developing a comedy set in outer space, focusing on the relationship between a father and son. The director - who made his debut with cult slacker comedy Clerks - has reportedly completed a first draft of the script, but there are no casting details as yet. It will be Smith's most expensive project to date, with a budget in the region of $45-$50 million (£26-£28 million), according to the Hollywood Reporter. "The moment someone steps out of the spaceship, it's... Read more
