Oldies are the bestBy suelyn from cheshire , 26 Feb 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]The first of its type and still holding its own. Not having watched this film in a lot of years I thought maybe I had remembered it through rose tinted glasses. However I was not disappointed. A thoroughly enjoyable film!

Great Movie, Awful Blu-ray!By a customer from Sunderland , 26 Mar 2009This film is a masterpiece but there is just one problem with this edition. The Blu-ray transfer! It's awful!!! I felt very let down with the quality of the transfer after looking forward for so long to owning this on Blu-ray. The film is very very grainy throughout, even on a lot of the daytime scenes. Granted certain scenes look stunning and the film is 30 years old but i felt that they could have made a better job on the overall quality of the transfer. I don't know how a lot of people haven't noticed this as it's so obvious when you watch it, unless i got a different version to everyone else.
Brilliant 'oldy'By MRST (1 review) from GRAYS , 08 Feb 2009Okay lots of you (like me) would have seen this years ago & some of the filming is a bit dated, but not very, considering the age of this. But this is still a briliant film. Many films are based on the same old storylines & could be remakes except for a different actor/ress, but this one I fell is quite unique. Your interest is kept throughout the film & ends - not quite how you may have expected?
The Bees Knees of Sci-FiBy a customer from Leicester , 30 Jan 2009I wish there were more stars that I could use to describe my admiration for this film. Steven Spielberg at his very best. A friendly alien invasion takes Richard Dreyfuss and other co-stars by surprise. Aliens are sending him a message which, at first, he doesnt understand - and certainly his long suffering wife doesn't.
Events lead him to a cropped hill where he gets to know what his obsession is all about.
The special effects are awesome - the best I have seen in any movie before, or since.
A master of a film - highly recommended.
Ages wellBy a customer from Bishop's Stortford, England , 06 Nov 2008Carries its age well. Still caught and held the attention of a new generation.
