I really can't say that I enjoyed this film, but I was absolutely transfixed. I don't know what exactly made me feel like that but I hardly blinked throughout, although there was certainly a desire to switch it off at the same time.
I'm afraid Julia Roberts has lost any charm she once had and was pretty insignificant in the film. I could not get my head round what Jude's character would see in her alongside Natalie's character. She is entirely personalitiless in this film.
Clive Owen and Natalie Portman are fantastic. She still displays some of the childlike vulnerability versus strength of her role in Leon. Clive's character is much more enigmatic than Jude's.
I'm torn between intense dislike to Jude's character to admiration of him as an actor for making me feel so strongly.
All in all, a bizarre watch, with a story that doesn't really go anywhere. I recommend you watch it but I'm not really sure why!?
