A rollercoaster ride from beginning to end

Some advice - if you haven't seen this film stop reading! It is best enjoyed with no preconceived ideas about plot, character or content beyond the few snippets of information that the trailers give. Just sit back and let the ride begin for one of the most exciting experiences to see on the screen. But if you MUST know more be warned - it will detract from the shock factor, which is a big part of 'Cloverfield'...

So, for those that have decided to read on, 'Cloverfield' is an excellent film and with a running time of only 90 minutes, is all the better as the pace is fast, thrilling and at times scary as hell. The effects are truly amazing, assuming you even notice them, as they are so integrated with the surroundings you have to pinch yourself to remember it isn't real. Because that's what this film is about - portraying a monster attack with a level of realism rarely seen in film. So real in fact that if you suffer from motion sickness you may want to have a bag at the ready as things get very 'bumpy' along the way.

Instead of a huge cast of characters, 'Cloverfield' instead focuses on the attempts of only five (later six) people to save their friend and get out of the city when a huge 'terrible thing' comes to town to eat the locals. This is Godzilla from the ground, and not a scientist or biologist in sight. And unlike that other big mean eating machine this one is neither green nor reptilian and is a lot scarier for it. This thing plows through buildings and is apparantly impervious to all harm. Oh, and comes with little friends...

Finding flaws with 'Cloverfield' is difficult. Many will complain about the simple story, the lack of explanations, and the non existent character development, as well as the fact that all the protagonists are essentially archetypes. But to judge the film on these gripes would be missing the point. This film is not meant to be intelligent or 'high art' - it's a monster movie, and a brilliant one at that. If you really like taut silences, and meaningful looks this film will disappoint. However if you're after an exciting ride and more 'bang for your buck', as it were, this is a definite must see.

    cloverfield perfect

I have now watched my new favorite film cloverfield it is as good as you wanted it to be and 10,000 times better it may take awhile for you to adjust to the way this is filmed on a handheld camera its all over the place and could make you motion sick and give you a headache.

Cloverfield is worth the obsession and the months we put in to this wondering what it was this is a monster of a movie a complete reinvention of the disaster movie and monster movie.

Well lets start with the big part beth is super hot you really care for her and want them to save her but never sure if she is alive or dead and even if she is still in her apartment.

Ok now down to the documentary as this should be as this should be watched not a movie the monster looks spectacular and his little minions look great aswell and they reveal him very slow but after the small clip in the trailer ever little clip you see of it make it even cooler then near the end with a great full on view he really looks great.

Plus the monster is actually only a backdrop to the documentary if you understand what i mean the documentary is about rob, lily, hud, jason and Marlena story of survival and they journey to find beth and avoid the giant monster trying to destroy the city and fight there way thought some epic street battles between army and monster witch on handheld look great as they run down streets and the monster appears from behind a building and rockets and gun fire shots over there heads.

This is a very atmospheric and scary movie not scary like horror movie stuff but it seems very real and the journey and emotions the survivors go through and challenges they face you really feel for them.

It feels like there is no script it feels like found handheld footage and this movie is a landmark genre film a true milestone in film history.

When you watch this it really helps if you had been following it from the start and you know who all the characters are and the backstory to this documentary as you understand something about the monster and are more attached to the characters as you feel you know them from there myspace pages and you want them to save beth more as you do like her and she is stunning.
