Crime is the disease and I'm the cure, claims cop Sylvester Stallone in a practically plotless mêlée of shooting and stabbing. The film tries to be Stallone's Dirty Harry (that film's Andrew Robinson and Reni Santoni have thankless supporting roles here), so it's unfortunate his idea of characterisation is mirror shades and a penchant for chewing matches. Although the relentless sequences of murder and mayhem are competently filmed by Rambo: First Blood Part II director George Pan Cosmatos (including a not-bad car chase), the film's unusually slender running time suggests any moments of tranquillity in the script must have been discarded somewhere along the way.
Relentless but unsurprising carbon of Dirty Harry, a bit too tough for its own good.
"...Sleek....Exciting....[The] film maintains its tension impressively..."

SLY STALLONE IN HIS MIRROR SHADES LOOKS LIKE A HOUSEFLY THAT HAS BEEN TAKING STEROIDS
Thought I'd take a trip down memory lane and watch this old-skool action thriller and wish I hadn't bothered. Truly awful, DO NOT waste your time.
but not with this movie
Good 80's stallone classic
This is essential viewing for any Stallone fan and basixcally not a bad movie for its time and genre.
Fast paced and with some of the gore and violence justifying the 18 certificate, it is still good fun and by no means as cheesy as you might think.
Of course the Stallone character is OTT as with his Rambo offerings of the same time, but then again that was the whole point of Stallone at the time. The plot is a little thin and unfortunately Bridgette Neilsen is as risable an actress in this as anything she ever does. Great car chase scene though.
I enjoyed it as much as seeing it on its initial release. Don't think about it too much, just watch it for the violent cop thriller it is and for Stallone being Stallone at his one liner best.
Would have given 5 stars but Brigette Neilsen shaves it.
Yes, I know an ageing dvd, but it stars Sly Stallone and he is quite good in this, plenty of action and violence when on the trail of a serial killer.
I saw this at the cinema I'm ashamed to say. I laughed so much I was cautioned by an attendant and completely embarressed my friends who were more able to suspend their disbeleief. Completely over the top in every respect. A real no brainer with little charm. The humour comes purely from the idea that someone, somewhere made a conscious decision to script this, set up every scene and even after viewing rushes and the editing process, truly believed we'd buy this cr**. A guilty pleasure. Enjoy
