Most helpful review
Acclaimed film, but not my taste.
By JG Weston from Chelmsford Essex , 05 Mar 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Chuck Norris plays Eddie Cussak, a cop who gives evidence against a fellow cop who killed an unarmed teenager. In testifying Cussack has broken the code of silence.
The film starts with a stake out of a drug gang which was a good bit of action but I found confusing as I wasn't sure who all the various groups of people were. It turns out the painters were not more of the stake out team but a rival gang. During the confusion in this first scene one of the cops killed the teenager and then planted a gun on him. When gang war breaks out after the initial incident, including kidnapping of the daughter of one of the mobsters Cussack has to sort it out alone as none of the other cops are willing to accompamy him. He is not alone however he has 'Prowler', a police robot to help him.
The film was directed by Andrew Davis who also did Under Siege, The Fugative and Collateral Damage.

How much wood would Chuck chuck...?
By Chibs from South Lanarkshire , 04 Jun 2006A lot, that's for sure.
This movie is your classic righteous cop vs. corrupt system who becomes an outsider before once more winning the trust of his department through the innocent, faith and loyalty of a rookie cop movie, except that it misses out on the cliched but necessary rookie saving the day moment.
Chuck does everything and with just a nod of newfound respect from his colleagues, he forgives them for abandoning him in his moment of need.
It lacks the humour and emotional content of the 'Lethal Weapon' movies, the futuristic gimmick (I won't ruin it with details) is embraced by Chuck, who would usually play the outdated cop, which goes against the grain, but then he does spend the movie railing against an even more fossilised cop, so I guess he had to keep with the times in this one.
Needless to say Harry Callahan wouldn't have put up with it.
It's an okay movie, if you have beer...- Was this review helpful to you?
