Some films are made for film critics. This is one of them. It lurches about in a disjointed way that the director would claim has some merit, but which only bewilders.
It's fine for films to be demanding, but then they need to reward as well. This one doesn't. Even Juliet Binoche seems to be tired of it all, and her lovely doe eyes get weary within 10 minutes, as if she was asking herself, 'What have I let myself in for?'
Don't make the same mistake. Rent Shrek instead.
