Probably the most perfect slasher movie of all time
This has subtitles but don't let it put you off ... it's a FAB horror. Very atmospheric, lots of blood & gore & a real bad baddie ... what more can a horror fan ask for?
I'll start of by saying i generally hate the teen slasher genre. I find the characters basically stupid and annoying and storyline threadbare.
However having recently watched Cold Prey and enjoying it i immediately rented this 2nd one.
Basically the main character is found and taken to hospital and then the victims and the killer are also found and taken to the same hospital......Guess what happens? Pretty basic and stereotypical but although this aspect does grate me a little the film manages to get away with it as it has other redeaming factors.
One of the reasons i found i liked the 1st film was the characters. They weren't the usual stupid annoying people found in American versions of these films that if the killer didn't kill them you wouldn't mind doing it yourself. The were 'normal' and so i found i actually had an interest in them. I'm glad to say this aspect carries over to the 2nd film which has a higher number of individual characters and roles but manages to show they are all individuals not just put there as killer fodder.
Again it looks good, but being set in an hospital the setting is not as dramatic as the 1st and therefore the sets/backgrounds aren't as detailed or interesting as before.
I found that both this film and the 1st never really built up a lot of tension and there wasn't much of 'what's gonna happen' and nothing came close to making me jump. But the story and characters are interesting enough that i didn't mind this as much as i might have. From a personal point of view in keeping things relatively simple and i would say almost sparse at times, has benifitted this film, but i'm sure there are many genre fans who will feel almost bored at times with it.
Overall i enjoyed this film and it is a definate watch if you enjoyed the 1st one.
Finally a warning for the many stupid people who obviosly rent films on here.....This film is Norwegian and therefore suprisingly has SUBTITLES.
