Buster Keaton not always funny shock
By Saty from Reading , 04 Mar 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
You never get the feeling that Keatons heart was fully in this, it feels more like a project some one came up with and said 'Lets have some laugh at college life and dumb jocks' (obviously their grandkids still work in Hollywood and are the brains behind films like Road Trip and Old School). The shorts are slightly better but again feel more laboured than usual for Keaton. Not essential unless you're a Keaton completist.- Was this review helpful to you?

(4)You won't buster gut
By a customer from Oving , 26 Oct 2008I think other reviews say it all - this is patchy, it has its moments but feels a little contrived. As for the extras, these are non-Keaton sports comedies from the era. I think kudos to the DVD producers for trying for once to give a little value for money with the old DVD extras, and if you enjoyed College then you wil probably enjoy these, but I did not. Sorry. If you want to know what makes Keaton a household name to this day, watch the much preferred 'the general'.- Was this review helpful to you?

A campus crock
By William Johnson from leamington , 25 Nov 2004College
The film concerns a geeky guy who fancies the popular college girl but all the jocks keep swatting him down. He tries to be good at something but keeps on failing until he is called on to rescue the damsel in distress. Directed in 1927 by James Horne the story might have been fresher then; now it is as stale as month old fish.
It?s a lame vehicle for Keaton which amazingly manages to hide all the star?s superb acrobatic and timing skills which were his trademark, the only thing left is his poker face.
The two shorts also on the DVD are far better suited to the star?s style.- Was this review helpful to you?

Hilarious & Keaton's best
By Dali from London , 17 Mar 2004I am not a sports fan - in fact, I loathe all sports. I wasn't sure if this film was for me but despite everything, I laughed out loud at all of Buster's antics. I think this is definitely one of his best and appeals to sports fans and sport haters alike.- Was this review helpful to you?
