AS others have said truly riveting not quite the equal of Mephisto as I remember but worth watching if just for the superb acting of Brandauer.

Well worth seeing and a beautiful film, but ultimately flawed. Klaus Maria Brandauer is fascinating to watch, but is much better in Mephisto.
