I'm a huge Johnny Cash fan, so Swan Song was a joy to watch. The character he plays here is quite biographical the country star with a checkered past but a good heart. Johnny was definitely not a natural actor, but that doesn't detract from the watchability and enjoyment, especially with the frequent snippets of his songs and the usual good stuff from Columbo.
I love Columbo - any excuse to squint and say 'ah, my wife'. Plus you get so many guest stars like William Shatner, Robert Vaughan and even Bruce Lee.
This was filmed in 1974, back when Cash was at the height of his powers and it's a fantastic episode: despite the fact Cash is a murderer the two of them get on so well, and normally Columbo frustrates the murderer as soon as he arrives on the scene. Watching the bearlike Cash yell 'hey Columbo little buddy' as Falk tries to sneak unnoticed around the airport is worth the rental alone. It even has some fine music courtesy of Mr Cash. And the kicker? It's directed by none other than 'Coach' from 'Cheers!'
As an old fan of the whole Columbo series, I have one grouse: why can we not have a list of the titles on each disk? A list of the series and the titles on each disk would be an enormous help. It is frustrating to order a disk in a series and find it contains all the episodes you have already, and none of the ones you hoped to get.

Once again the columbo series provides good view.
Can not wait for series 4 to be released
This episode 'A friend in need' is one of the best ever Columbo episodes.
It was even better than I remembered it.
His boss is guilty and the way he catches him is simply fantastic.
What I liked about Columbo, was it was never about who committed the crime as we saw this before Columbo himself. I could just sit back and enjoy Columbo pick out the clues and use his wits to over come the killers. Great series from the 1970s and very watchable to day. Great acting from Peter Falk. Season Three great is Double Exposure and Publish or perish.
as usual you got to love this master
Fantastic - I really enjoyed the entire series
Some of the best Columbo episodes. Elite stuff.
Any fan of Columbo will love these episodes.
