Fine start but turns into a messBy a customer from Heaven , 14 Jan 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]The first few episodes are watchable but it soon collapses into an unbelievable mish mash of soap plotlines and bad writing. Geena Davis is the only one who can act and the rest do not convey any sense of their roles. If you liked 'The West Wing' you will not like this - it's it's far too stupid. Incidently, viewing figures went from 17 million to 5.5 million from the start of episode 1 to the end of episode 19 in the US - go figure.

The new West WIngBy marshall1967 (4 reviews) from Glasgow , 04 Jul 2013Just finished watching the entire series. All i can say is i loved it, but unfortunitly due to low rating it was cancelled jst as what would have been a great second series about the campaign was due to start. Although not as excellent as West wing the show did keep me wanting more and cancelling it with so many stories unfinished was unfair. i can highly recommend you add this to your rental list as although short in episodes it makes up for it in teh quality of them Geena davis as leading lady is somethng that always means that its worth watching with Donald Sutherland as her nemisis. how could any1 argue over such a great pair of actors in leading roles fighting for what their charactors believe in

WELL WORTH A WATCHBy nikkiheart73 (30 reviews) from Plymouth , 06 Sep 2009Not being a fan of politics I was reluctant to watch a whole series about a female president. Initially, I wanted to watch the series because Mark Paul Gosselar (Saved By The Bell) was in it from episode 9. I found that after watching a few episodes I was finding it very watchable so it wasn't so bad after all.
Geena Davis was brilliant! Donald Sutherland is still a total legend! My only complaint is that Mark Paul Gosselar didn't have enough scenes. Lol!!!
Commander In ChiefBy a customer from Cambs , 28 Jul 2009A good series - recommended
Commander in ChiefBy a customer from Essex , 15 May 2009Commander in Chief is an intellectual and challenging series. Not only does it challenge the viewer in terms of its language and style, it forces the viewer to seriously consider the possibilities behind a first female US leader.
Following the death of President Bridges, Vice President Allen, played by the legendary Geena Davis, unwittingly takes on the role of the first female President of the United States. Despite being asked to resign by Bridges and facing strong opposition from Government, Allen folds her resignation and takes the Presidency by the eagles wings.
The two biggest strengths of this series are the stunning performance from Geena Davis and the writing of Rod Lurie. Not to mention the huge and gifted supporting cast, with special mention to Nathan Templeton, the Speaker of the House, played by the unstoppable Donald Sutherland. Every aspect of this show perfectly fits together, like the pieces of a jigsaw, to create this powerful and sometimes moving story of the challenges of the White House.
From time to time, the story does become a little too heavily feminist in content but it takes nothing away from the series as a whole. It could easily have tripped into a feminist statement instead of a programme about the trials and tribulations of a US President. But the cast and crews skilful handling have kept the show where it should be.
The final episode of Commander in Chief leaves you wanting more, which begs the question: why wasnt this concept taken into a second series? It should have been!
InspiredBy a customer from Lpool, UK , 16 Mar 2009We both looked forward to each and every episode. The main actors 'bounced' off each other. Magic at times. Bring it on to the telly.
