    [Highly rated reviewer]

If you are familiar with the original Robert E Howard character you will find little here of his well-crafted visceral stories. If you are familiar only with the 80s Arnie film you will recognise several nods to it in what is essentially a re-make of that film for the X Box generation.

Actually that's being unfair to X Box owners.....this is a movie with minimal plot, badly handled action scenes, mind-boggling devices (the villain travels cross country in a ship carried by elephants....). One or two half decent moments can't salvage this turkey. Momoa shows promise in the lead role but is hampered by a lousy script that must have REH spinning in his grave.

Fails to work as a Conan film, fails to work as a generic sword and sorcery film

yet another remake that is just nowhere near as good as the original. Arnie was much better & that version was much more enjoyable

Nice to see Jason Mamoa back on the telly after Stargate Atlantis. To be honest just got the film to see him in action again, but the film wasnt too bad at all. I think we can safely say this guy does at least 90% of this own stunts. Lots of fighting, lots of neanderthal cursing...but good fun to watch.

Not nearly as good as the original with Arnie, but worth watching because Jason's in it. It concentrated too much on the gore, blood and violence and not much else, there was no passion or excitement between the characters, there was no Valeria, if you only have special effects and pretty people you don't get a real film just something that is produced to make money at the cinema.

I'm not going to lie, I basically rented this as I am a huge Jason Momoa fan. As for the film itself I actually thought it was good. Some excellent fight scenes.

This new Conan is just another over acheiver in the long list of directors trying their hardest to grasp the pure concept that the comics embodied. However it was entertaining and good for a laugh, but not if your a great fan of the true Conan like I am.
