[Highly rated reviewer]If you are familiar with the original Robert E Howard character you will find little here of his well-crafted visceral stories. If you are familiar only with the 80s Arnie film you will recognise several nods to it in what is essentially a re-make of that film for the X Box generation.
Actually that's being unfair to X Box owners.....this is a movie with minimal plot, badly handled action scenes, mind-boggling devices (the villain travels cross country in a ship carried by elephants....). One or two half decent moments can't salvage this turkey. Momoa shows promise in the lead role but is hampered by a lousy script that must have REH spinning in his grave.
Fails to work as a Conan film, fails to work as a generic sword and sorcery film

If you likely the original give it a whirlBy Jagster (23 reviews) , 05 Sep 2012A solid enough remake of the Arnie classic.
Is it high quality cinema NO but it is a sword and sorcery story with a lot of blood thrown in via the actions scenes.
Disappointing it wasBy a customer , 29 Aug 2012Rented this as I enjoyed the original swartzy film. However, did not like this version at all. It was over violent; had poor dialogue; sound track was poor; and I found the film was much to frenetic, particularly in the last 20 minutes or so.
2 hours of your life you'll never get backBy Trotwear (8 reviews) from Oxford , 20 Aug 2012I really tried to watch this film, but even the special effects couldnt make it interesting. So dull I switched it off.
Action packed adventureBy Sammy1973 (305 reviews) from King's Lynn , 18 Aug 2012I enjoyed this film. I was never an arnie fan in the historic conan films so for me this is a different experience to avid conan fans. Jason Momoa is extremely watchable, he is charasmatic and has enormous presence :o) I think he is superb as conan. The film is full of fantasy, fighting, love and adventure. I don't know why people slate it so much. It's not offensive in anyway just an action packed adventure.
